What is Fora Places?
Fora Places is your new favorite tool to save, share, and discover the world’s best places to power incredible itineraries, directly in Portal. Save restaurants, beaches, cafés, boutiques, and other locations on a map. Add comments to capture why each place is special and why clients love it. Then embed those recommendations into client itineraries with place blocks.
We built Fora Places to not only be your centralized spot to save and share your favorite places with yourself/clients, but also to harness the wisdom of the Fora community and become the world’s most trusted source for place recommendations.
What features are available within Fora Places today?
Fora Places is the home for all your recommendations. Today, you can:
Import from Google Maps. Transfer your saved places from Google Maps into Fora Places. Review and select which places to add to your map.
Save places. Use Fora Places’ search bar to save your top points of interest around the world. These can be restaurants, parks, beaches, markets—anywhere you’d want to send clients, or remember for yourself.
Add comments. Capture details that make each place worth recommending: the best dish at a restaurant, the best table at a café, the most scenic route to a beach.
Embed your places in itineraries. Add place blocks to client itineraries. Each block links to Google Maps so clients can navigate on the go.
What’s next for Fora Places?
Fora Places will become a shared taste network across all advisors, letting you tap into peer expertise when planning trips to unfamiliar destinations.
Soon, you’ll be able to:
Import more places. Upload Google Docs, screenshots, PDFs, and other documents. AI extracts the places so you can choose which ones to add.
Filter your map. Search by category to quickly find relevant recommendations.
Manage places with Via. Add, organize, edit, and unsave places from anywhere in Portal using Via.
Create custom lists. Build themed lists tailored to specific trips or client preferences.
Access the recommendations of the Fora community. See how often other advisors have recommended a place and who recommended it.
Fora Places FAQ
Why did Fora make Fora Places?
Fora Places is a central hub where you can save, share, and (soon) discover destination recommendations for client itineraries—powered by recommendations from the Fora community. Instead of cross-referencing multiple sources to vet restaurants, bars, and boutiques, the vision for Fora Places is to allow you to search a curated collection of places that other Fora Advisors have visited and recommended.
Is my Fora Places map private?
Your map is currently private to you. You'll eventually be able to see the recommendations of other advisors, and vice versa. We will release community-based features in the coming months.
Can I add hotels to Fora Places?
Not yet. While you can see hotels appear in the search results, you won't be able to save them to your map. To save hotels in Portal, click the heart icon on the Partners page or on the hotel's detail page.
Import into Fora Places
How do I add places to my Fora Places map?
If you use Google Maps, start by importing your saved places from Google Maps. If you don't use Google Maps, search for a place in the search bar, click on the result, and then click save.
Can I import places from something other than Google Maps?
Not yet. Fora Places currently imports saved places from Google Maps. Support for docs, screenshots, and PDFs is coming soon.
Place Blocks
How can I share my places with clients?
Embed places into client itineraries with place blocks. Place blocks put your recommendations in the context of the larger trip, making it easier for clients to visualize their journey. Each place block includes the place's name, category, optional image, and link to its Google Maps profile.
How can I edit a place block?
You can toggle a place block's featured image on or off, or replace it by clicking the pencil icon. You can also edit the place's display title by typing directly in the title box.
