How to Import Saved Places from Google Maps

  1. Go to takeout.google.com. Make sure you’re logged in with your Google Maps account.

  2. Deselect all. Under Step 1 of the “Create a new export section” under “Select data to include” click “Deselect all”.

  3. Select two rows. Scroll down and check the box for only "Maps (your places)" and "Saved" Leave everything else unchecked! (Do not select the row that just says “Maps”).

  4. Create export. In Step 2, make sure the “Transfer box" says “Send download link via email” Frequency should be set to “Export once” “File type” should be set to “.zip”.

  5. Check your email. Google will send you an email shortly. The subject line will be something like “Your Google data is ready to download”.

  6. Download your files. Click the “Manage Google Takeout request” button. Doing so will take you to a new page. On that page, click the “Download” button.

  7. Upload your file. Upload the downloaded .zip file to Fora Places.

  8. Review and add your places. Review the extracted places and select which ones to add to your map.
